OSWEGO, NY – The Broadwell Hospitality Group is a force along the Port City’s waterfront. Now, the entrepreneurs would like to branch out into the waterway.
At last week’s Administrative Services Committee, Mike Riley, Purchasing Agent, said BHG submitted a response to an advertised Request for Proposals to manage transient dockage along East Linear Park. The council approved the request at Monday’s meeting.
The BHG will provide minor custodial maintenance and the appropriate signage from the area just north of Bridge Street to the area just south of the entrance to the marina and provide promotional information of local businesses and attractions to transient boaters in exchange for collecting dockage fees in the amount of $1 per foot.
In consideration for this, BHG will pay the city $1,000.
Last year, the city collected about $1,200 from boaters on both sides of the river, Mayor Billy Barlow said.
The deal started at the approval by the Common Council and ends upon the closing of the 2017 boating season.
The agreement can be extended for an additional four years upon mutual consent of both parties.
