OSWEGO – The City of Oswego is providing advance notice to residents and motorists regarding upcoming construction work at the intersection of West Utica Street and West 1st Street.
Beginning Monday, August 25, 2025, the Utica Street Bridge will be closed to all traffic through Wednesday, September 3, 2025, to allow for the completion of a new watermain installation and connection at this intersection.
While the project is underway, businesses in the construction area will remain open and accessible, and the City encourages residents to continue to support local establishments during this time.
The City asks residents and visitors to plan accordingly:
• Use the approved detour route to navigate around the closure.
• Allow extra travel time, especially if you need to cross the river.
• Be patient as crews complete this critical infrastructure improvement.
• Avoid the area if possible to reduce congestion and delays.
Mayor Robert A. Corradino expressed appreciation for the community’s understanding and cooperation during this important project: “We recognize the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, but this work is essential for the continued safety and reliability of our water system. We appreciate everyone’s patience as we complete this necessary upgrade.”
The City of Oswego thanks residents, visitors, and businesses for their understanding as we work to improve and strengthen our infrastructure.
