OSWEGO, NY – At this week’s meeting of the Physical Services Committee,
Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, said he received a request from Cre8 Studios regarding the Oswego County Paddlefest to be held on July 22.

The kayakers will reach Oswego around 11 a.m. and the event will last until 7 p.m.
Cre8 requested the use of public space at Riverwalk West and Veterans’ Stage for the festivities, including concert and food vendors, and use of the use of Wright’s Landing Marina as a designated shuttle area and loading areas for kayaks and canoes.
They want to have entertainment at the post event festival and requested a waiver of the noise ordinance from 11 a.m. that Saturday until about 7 p.m.
The intent of the event is to promote a healthy and fun activity highlighting Oswego’s waterfront and canal system.
Cre8 has requested this be considered a city sponsored event to show the city’s commitment to bringing attention to its waterfront.
At this time, Cre8 isn’t seeking overtime from city services, according to Chris Jones. A safety plan will be presented to the police and fire departments for approval, he added.
All park and festival cleanup will be the responsibility of Cre8’s staff, he told the councilors.
The committee gave the request a favorable recommendation.
In Other Business:
Tom Kells, DPW Commissioner, received a request from Crystal Thomas on behalf of the Oswego Laker Swim Club for use of the Gallagher Swimming Pool for summer sessions running from June 26 – July 28 from 7 – 9 a.m. Monday- Friday.
The OLSC will provide its own lifeguards and coaching staff and carry its own insurance.
The club does have a budget and would consider picking up the overtime tab for the two city workers, Thomas said.
Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, said he received a request from Victory Transformation, Inc., regarding the Prayer for the Prodigals event to be held on July 8 from 1 to 6 p.m.
They requested use of public space at Riverwalk West and Veterans’ Stage.
They also requested up to 14 picnic tables to use during the event and additional trash containers.
Both requests were sent to the full council for consideration.
