OSWEGO – At Monday night’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, councilors paved the way for more road work in the Port City.
They gave a favorable recommendation to a request for Change Order No. 1 for additional milling and paving work to be performed under the 2017 Milling and Paving Project in the amount of $227,200 with Riccelli Enterprises.
It would increase the cost of the project to $725,200.
Riccelli was awarded the contract for the project.
They submitted the proposal for Change Order No.1 to the city to provide additional work on various city streets.
Included in the proposed work plan are Varick Street, West Cayuga Street and Hart Street.
The cost of the work would be funded by CHIPS.
According to city officials, the cost is a good deal for the amount of work that will be completed.
In Other Action:
Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, received a request from the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce regarding the CNY Great Pumpkin Festival to be held September 29 through October 1, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The chamber requested use of public space at East Park as well as a road closure of East Oneida Street and the use of the bandstand.
They also requested a variance to serve alcohol during the event through a licensed vendor, a waiver of the noise ordinance and permission to allow food trucks/vendors to provide services during the event.
The Community Development Director also received a request from Gerri Millar regarding the Oswego Porchfest, scheduled for September 24, from 1 to 5 p.m.
She requested a waiver from the Noise Ordinance for the area location of the planned Oswego Porchfest; the location is comprised of West Cayuga Street – Lake Street/West Third Street – West Seventh Street neighborhood area.
The current telephone agreement with Verizon expires on December 21, 2017. Proposals were received for new VOIP telecommunication services and the most favorable proposal was submitted TPX Communications.
It was recommended that the Purchasing Agent be authorized to sign a three-year VOIP agreement with TPX pursuant to the pricing included in its proposal.
Caroline Anderson, Animal Control Officer, requested permission to accept a donation from Elizabeth Mannise in the amount of $4,718.25.
This donation is the result of proceeds from a fundraiser called Paws for a Cause, organized by Mannise to benefit the Oswego Animal Shelter and was held at the Driveway Inn in Palermo on August 12.
The Clerk’s Office request’s approval of the final resolution for the extension of the city’s additional one percent sales and compensating use tax.
The current authorization will expire on November 30, 2017.
Randall Griffin, Fire Chief, requested permission to have Oswego Fire Department personnel to cover each of the Oswego School District’s fall high school home football games and any crossover playoff games to be determined at a later date.
The school district will reimburse the city for all overtime and Social Security costs for the fire department personnel working the events at the minimum of four hours per personnel, per game.
Griffin, also requested permission to attend the NYS Career Fire Chief’s September Meeting, September 29-30 at the Westchester County Training Center.
Funds are budgeted for the travel.
Nancy Sterio, Personnel Director, requested permission for one employee to attend the New York State Civil Service Institute in Albany being held September 25-28, October 23-26 and November 28 – December 1.
Funds are budgeted for the travel.
The Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant requested a transfer of $8,630 from Account No. G.8130.0410 (Supplies and Materials) into Account No. G.8130.0200 (Equipment) and $5,960 from Account No. G.8130.0410 (Supplies and Materials) into Account No. G.8130.0200 (Equipment).
The transfer of funds is to cover the rebuilding/repair of a Yeoman Pump at the East Cayuga Street Pump Station as well as the repair/replacement of instrumentation and communication between East Pump Station, River Walk and EFMF for the SCADA System at the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The committee forwarded each of the requests to the full council for consideration.
