Geddes, NY – State Police were called to the Red Cross Parking lot across from the New York State Fairgrounds shortly after 2 p.m. this afternoon (Sept. 2) for a reported animal cruelty case.

When troopers arrived, they observed a male standing over a black Labrador canine who was seizing and barely breathing.
Troopers attempted to cool the dog with water and ice.
Subsequently, the dog died at the scene.
Troopers arrested Patrick J. Oneill, 66, from 326 Haverstock Road in Massena, NY, on the Agricultural and Markets Law – Section 353, a class “A” misdemeanor.
The investigation revealed that Oneill reportedly left his 2-year-old female Labrador for more than four hours in his vehicle while he attended the State Fair.
Oneill was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Geddes Court on September 16 at 5:30 p.m.
