UPDATE – 2: The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office has tentatively identified the couple that were involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash on Friday in the Town of Scriba.
According to a press release issued this morning (Oct. 10), 72-year-old Larry Cummings and his 75-year-old wife, Constance Cummings, of State Route 3, Watertown were travelling westbound on State Route 104 in Scriba when their vehicle crossed the center line and struck an Eastbound truck hauling a compact farm tractor.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Scientific identification by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office is still pending.
UPDATE: The Sheriff’s Department says two people are dead in the crash. They are the two people in the car, but they have not been identified yet. Also, police tell us the other vehicle is not a tractor trailer but a commercial-type pickup truck pulling a flatbed trailer that was carrying a piece of heavy equipment.
State Route 104 is closed between county routes 29 and 51 in Scriba as of 11:30 a.m. It will be closed for several hours.
Officials say an accident involving a car and tractor-trailer has killed at least one person. No other details are available.
