Fulton Man Sentenced 2-8 Years On Attempted Conspiracy Charge

OSWEGO, NY – In county court this morning (Feb. 27), Quentin J. Hicks accepted a plea deal in his case.

Earlier this month, Hicks, 43, of Rochester Street in Fulton, was offered a sentence of 2 to 8 years in state prison if he accepted a deal to plead guilty to second-degree attempted conspiracy, a felony.

Originally, Hicks had been charged with second-degree conspiracy and second-degree criminal solicitation, both felonies.

Hicks admitted in court that he had tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife, even going as far as providing a sketch of the home.

It is a fair sentence, given the circumstances of the case, according to Oswego County District Attorney Greg Oakes.

In court in early February, Hicks’ lawyer Donald VanStry said his client has no prior criminal history.

The couple was going through “a nasty divorce,” he admitted.

Catherine Hicks, 45, of 3354 Hayes Road, Lysander, was arrested the day after her husband, Oakes noted.

She was charged with second-degree burglary (a violent felony) for allegedly breaking into Hicks’ Fulton home, Oakes said, adding her case is still going through the system.
