OSWEGO, NY – Nearly 50 children crowded into the ballroom at Bridie Manor Friday for a kids’ paint and pizza night.

The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau along with Oswego Kiwanis Club facilitated the program.
Melissa Rose Crafts hosted the event and assisted the children in creating works of art on wood.
Some painted pictures while others did sayings such as “I Love You To The Moon and Back” written beside a large crescent moon.
Several pizzas (and drinks) were provided by Bridie Manor.
Dozens of cupcakes were donated by Cakes Galore.
“This was supposed to open to 30 kids. But they just coming. The last one registered this afternoon,” said Jennifer Losurdo of the Youth Bureau. “It’s a great turnout.”
The children, ages 4-12, received a piece of wood, specific to the type of artwork they were creating. They wrote their names on the back and painted the front in a solid color or multi-colored.
While waiting for their wood to dry in front of a large fan, the youngsters enjoyed socializing and snacks.
Once their wooden easels were dry, they placed their stencils on the wood and set about creating their masterpieces.
“I started Melissa Rose Crafts once I learned I did have a little craftiness in me!” said owner Melissa Stevens. “It’s just awesome to see the creations children can come up with. Tonight, they all did their own designs and they came out great!”
“Everybody had a great time,” Losurdo agreed. “The created some beautiful designs.”
She thanked the Kiwanis Club for assisting as well as Bridie Manor and Cakes Galore for supporting the children’s event.
“I can’t thank them enough,” she added.
Melissa Rose Crafts has been in business for about two years now, doing special events like this, children’s birthday parties and other occasions.
