OSWEGO – Mayor Billy Barlow today (June 27) announced the Charles E. Gallagher City Public Pool will open on July 1.

Barlow also announced a new large slide with three different slide arms will be constructed at the pool in the coming weeks.

The new slide comes after several other additions and improvements to the pool area in the last three years including a sand pit and a handicap accessible splash pad.

Mayor Barlow and the Common Council also made the pool free to city residents last summer and reduced the fee for swimming lessons.

“The Charles E. Gallagher Swimming Pool is a great amenity for our children and families. I’m excited to build the brand new, large slide to make the pool that much more fun and fresh for our children who look forward to playing at the pool all summer long. For some kids, playing at the pool is the highlight of their summer and the new slides will only enhance their experience,” Barlow said.

“By eliminating entry fees, reducing the price of swimming lessons and continuing to improve the facility, we are making the city swimming pool more accessible to all Oswego families and giving our children more to look forward to during their summer vacation,” he added.

Public swimming is Monday through Friday 12:30 – 5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon – 7 p.m.

Family swim is Monday through Friday 5 – 7 p.m.

Children can also enroll in the Learn to Swim Program for swimming lessons at $10 per session for city residents.

Sign-ups will be held on Sunday June 30 from 1 – 3 p.m. and Monday July 1 at 9 a.m.

Lessons begin on Monday July 1 at 10 a.m.

The pool is located at 6 E. Seventh St.
