OSWEGO – Mayor Billy Barlow announced today (August 10) there will be a grand re-opening of the Oswego Charles E. Gallagher Fort Swimming Pool at noon on Sunday, August 13, to celebrate the recent improvements and enhancements to the city-owned and operated public pool that the mayor announced earlier this month.
The city has installed a handicap-accessible, mushroom sprayer and sprinkler to accommodate smaller children and also created a large sandbox in the pool area to provide a beach-like experience while using the pool.
The mayor also said the appearance of the pool would be enhanced and the city would provide additional tables and chairs for parents and pool attendees.
“As mayor, I am proud to invest in our city amenities to provide more options and a better experience at the city pool for our children. To celebrate the recent improvements, we will have a grand re-opening ribbon-cutting and public swim on Sunday will be free for all swimmers and parents/guardians,” said Mayor Barlow. “My administration will remain committed to investing in our assets and finding new and creative ways to better accommodate those with special needs in our community, and allow more children in our community to take advantage of the pool.”
The pool is open for public swim on August 13 from noon until 7 p.m. and will be free to all attendees.
The formal ribbon-cutting will open public swim at noon with Mayor Barlow, members of the Oswego Common Council and Department of Public Works Commissioner Tom Kells.
