Mayor Proclaims March Poison Prevention Month

Mayor Robert Corradino was absent from tonight’s meeting. Councilman Tim Plunkett led the meeting in his place.

Plunkett read the proclamation that Corradino appears to have written. “On average, it is reported that a child is poisoned every 30 seconds in the US,” read Plunkett, “equaling 280 children per day.”

9/10 children get poisoned in their home, read the proclamation, with the leading cause being medications. Other common causes include other household products, like pesticides or household cleaners.

The city hopes that the proclamation will lead to families being more proactive with properly storing hazardous chemicals.

Resolution #71 approved Oswego’s into a ten-year agreement with Spectrum. While people were invited to tonight’s meeting to discuss the matter during a public session, no one had anything to say.
