OSWEGO, NY – Demolition plans have been finalized for the Midtown Plaza garage and the developer said they have a short window to complete if they want to finish before Harborfest.

SRE-Midtown Garage Acquisitions, purchased the Midtown Plaza garage in April from the city of Oswego.

“After consulting with our engineers we have determined the upper deck is beyond repair and must be demolished,” said Louis Fournier III, president of The Sutton Companies. “The work will be completed in two phases. The first phase includes installing temporary fencing, steel bracing and other temporary protection measures to keep the site safe and prepare for the removal of the upper deck. This phase will begin on Monday, May 18. The second phase which includes the removal of the deck and installing fencing and guard rails is scheduled for the middle of June. We expect the entire job will take approximately eight weeks.”

The Rite Aid, Green Planet Grocery, JoAnn Fabric and Oswego County Opportunities will all remain open during the demolition project.

Unfortunately during the majority of the demolition work, the surface parking under the garage will not be available for parking and customers should use the street parking while the work is in progress.

There will be no public parking during the demolition project.

When the demolition is complete there will be 30 reserved short-term parking spaces for the general public.
