Nine Mile Point Unit I Returned To Service

OSWEGO, NY — Operators returned Nine Mile Point Unit 1 to full power on Tuesday, September 8, following repairs to a steam valve that closed during routine testing on Friday, September 4.

Skilled technicians completed the repairs and performed comprehensive tests before returning Unit 1 to service.

Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station is located seven miles northeast of Oswego and 50 miles north of Syracuse.

The station can produce more than 1,937 megawatts of carbon-free electricity – enough to power more than two million typical homes.
