FULTON –  For the past 11 years, Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program of the North Country has partnered with Oswego Health to see that its consumers receive the cancer screenings and treatment they need.

OCO’s Cancer Services Program Partnership includes over 80 healthcare professionals offering services and treatment related to breast cancer, cervical cancer, and colon cancer.

“We are fortunate to count on Oswego Health as one of our talented partners,” said Cancer Services Program Coordinator, Carolyn Handville. “Our network of providers makes it possible for us to refer our consumers to a healthcare provider that best suits their needs,”

As a Cancer Services partner, Oswego Health provides screenings, diagnostic treatment, and in some cases treatment to uninsured and under-insured Cancer Services clients throughout Oswego, Lewis, Jefferson, and St Lawrence Counties.

“We appreciate Oswego Health and it’s an honor to work with them,” added Handville. “They provide clinical and imaging services and other services in a caring manner accepting our reimbursement rates as payment in full and never balance billing the clients. Oswego Health provides us the opportunity to coordinate screening events together and conduct outreach at many local events.  I also commend them for always promoting the Cancer Services program and the many free services that we provide for uninsured and underinsured community members every opportunity staff get.”

Michael C. Backus, President & CEO of Oswego Health shares, “At Oswego Health, we care about what matters most and that’s our patients.  As a nonprofit healthcare system, Oswego Health invests every penny of income over expenses in caring for the community. Simply put, we care about what matters most and that’s our patients and ensuring they have access to safe, accessible, quality care.”

Administered by OCO, the Cancer Services Program of the North Country provides free cancer screenings including clinical breast exams, mammograms, pap/pelvic exams, and colorectal cancer screenings to community members who are both uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age.
