OPD Removes Man From River

OSWEGO – At about 3:45 p.m. today, March 29, Oswego Police responded to an adult man in the river along West Linear Park near West Oneida Street.

Emergency crews of the Oswego Fire Department and US Coast Guard responded to assist as well as New York State Police and US Border Patrol.

The man eventually climbed out of the water and clung to a permanent ladder, refusing to come off of the river wall.

OPD officers continued to negotiate with the man who eventually complied with officers and was taken into custody.

He was transported to Oswego Hospital for evaluation.
