Oswego City Common Council Approves All 16 Resolutions

OSWEGO – At Tuesday’s brief Common Council meeting, the council approved all 16 resolutions unanimously.

While each one was approved in this fashion, the resolutions only received six votes because Councilor Susan McBrearty was absent. Of the resolutions, five authorized the city chamberlain to adjust the city budget. These include Resolution No. 335 which authorized the city chamberlain to complete a budget amendment for $14,683.95 for new flooring for the third floor of city hall. Other budget amendments include one not to exceed $51,000 for the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant Infrastructure Project, one not to exceed $1,094,000 for the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant Infrastructure Project and one transfer of funds within the Police Department and to further authorize a budget amendment for $75,000 for special events, enforcement details and investigations.

Beyond that, the council approved the following:

•  No. 327 to approve use of public space to Thomas Millar to install a projecting sign at his commercial property at 117 West Cayuga Street
• No. 328 to approve use of public space to Thomas Millar to install an emergency exit at his commercial property at 117 West Cayuga Street
• No. 329 to approve use of public space to DePaul Properties, the owner of a commercial property at 220 East First Street, to construct a vehicular barrier planter
• No. 331 to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Barton and Loguidice, DPC for engineering services for the West Linear Riverwalk Project
• No. 332 and No. 333 to authorize the city engineer to executive any and all agreements and documents for the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant Infrastructure Project and the Eastside Wastewater Treatment Plant Green Innovation Project
• No. 334 to accept the bid submitted by Brown and Caldwell for engineering services for the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant Infrastructure Project

The final resolution regarding the city chamberlain, No. 339, authorized her to use funds from the Ice Rink Capital Reserve Account for trailer/locker room rentals and enhanced internet service. 

Another resolution that was passed, No. 330, authorized the mayor and the economic development director to execute contracts for the 2021 Creepy Crawl and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This year’s Creepy Crawl[1] is the second the City of Oswego has thrown and will run Halloween Weekend, from October 28-30.All Common Council meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of every month.
