At a 5:00 p.m. news conference, the county’s public health director announced that more pools of mosquitoes carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis have been found.
As a result, the county is asking the state for permission to spray parts of the county to try to kill some mosquitoes.
Permission is expected to be granted.
There is no date set for spraying yet, and the locations to be sprayed have not yet been determined.
The announcement comes on the same day that the family of Maggie Wilcox expressed their outrage that the county had decided, to that point, not to spray.
The four year old girl from New Haven died from EEE over the weekend.
The county says the decision was not influenced by pressure from the public, but from the continuing discovery of more pools of infected mosquitoes.
