Oswego Fire Department Extinguishes Blaze On Duer Street

OSWEGO, NY – At 3:09 p.m. today (Feb. 13), the Oswego Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 328 Duer St.

A neighbor called 911 and alerted the resident that there were flames coming from the rear of the home.

The Oswego Fire Department arrived on scene at 3:13 p.m. and confirmed that there were flames coming from the rear roof of the structure.

While crews conducted a primary search for possible victims, other personnel worked on gaining access to the fire.

Crews then confirmed that two people were home at the time of the fire, but had exited safely without injury.

As firefighters pulled ceilings in the rear of the first floor of the structure, they found active fire and operated a hose line to extinguish.

Fire crews continued to check for extension, and shortly later the blaze was confirmed out.

There was heavy damage to the rear addition of the structure, but no injuries were reported.

The preliminary cause of fire appears to extension from a wood burning stove.

The Oswego Police Department, Menter Ambulance and National Grid assisted at the scene.
