Oswego Man Charged With Manslaughter

RICHLAND, NY – An Oswego man is behind bars Sunday, charged with manslaughter.

At 1:46 a.m. Sunday, the Oswego County 911 center received a call regarding an unresponsive male at Lot #25 Pine Grove Road in the town of Richland.

Police and Northern Oswego County Ambulance personnel responded to the scene and reportedly found Robert S. King, 36, of 5 Kimberly Lane Apt #326, Mexico, unconscious.

He was transported to Oswego Hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to police.

The investigation has determined that King was allegedly assaulted by Michael J. Fredette, 44, of 427 Nine Mile Point Road, Oswego, following a verbal dispute.

Fredette has been charged with first-degree manslaughter.

He was arraigned before Town Justice James Ridgeway, in the Town of Richland Court.

Fredette was committed to Oswego County Jail in lieu of $5,000/$10,000 bail/bond and is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Richland Court on Aug. 11.
