Oswego Police Department K-9 Unit, Criminal Division Unit Grants Approved By Common Council

OSWEGO – The Oswego Common Council meeting was held last night, Monday, November 14. The meeting was brief with all 16 items on the agenda approved. 15 items were passed unanimously, one item passing by a margin of 5-1 with one excused (Resolution 344). Councilor McBrearty was excused from last night’s meeting.

One of the items passed during last night’s meeting was the acceptance of a grant from the Walmart Community Grants Team and Facility # 1926 to the Oswego Police Department. The donation amount of  $3,500.00 will help fund the purchase of Microsoft Surface Pro tablets for the Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. 

Another item passed by the Council was acceptance of a federally funded grant in the amount of $14,242.00, again for the Oswego Police Department – the award falling under the FY2020 Explosive Detection Canine Team Grant Program. The monies will go toward ongoing training and maintenance of the OPD’s K-9 Program.

According to the agenda, “the donation will assist the Oswego City Police Department in Sustaining, maintaining, and training our K9 teams to support terrorism prevention activities in our jurisdiction.”

• Approve Use of Public Space for the 8th Annual Trinity Turkey Trot Family Run/Walk to be Held on November 20, 2022
• Authorize Mayor to Sign Amendment No. 1 with Paoletti Engineering PLCC for Construction Services for the International Pier Improvement Project
• Motion to Rescind Resolution No. 308, Dated October 1, 2022
• Authorize Mayor to Enter into an Agreement with C&S Companies for Professional Services for the Route 48 Corridor Beautification and Safety Improvement Project and Further Authorize City Chamberlain ot Advance Funds for same
• Accept Quote Submitted by John R. Dudley Construction, Inc. for General Construction for the City Hall Canopy Repair Project and Further Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Budget Amendment for Same 
• Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Transfer of Funds from the Enterprise Contingent Account ot the Short-Term Bond Interest Account for an Unscheduled Short-Term Payment for the Sewer Projects
• Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Budget Amendment to the Street Maintenance Contracted Services Account to Cover Costs of the East Side Fire Department, Animal Shelter and Sheldon Park Projects 
• Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Budget Amendment to the Police Department Equipment Account for the Cost of a Speed Trailer Unit
• Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Budget Amendment to the Police Department Equipment Account for the Cost of a Surveillance Trailer
• Authorize City Chamberlain to Complete a Budget Amendment to the Animal Control Personal Services-Overtime Account to cover Overtime Costs
• Waive Rules of Common Council to Present Resolution Nos. 349-350 From the Floor Without Committee Consideration
• Authorize Mayor to Enter into Employment Agreement with Paul Conzone, Fire Chief
• Authorize the Mayor to Sign Amendment Nos. 2 and 3 with LaBella Associates, D.P.C. for the Renovation Project for the Conway Municipal Center – Miscellaneous Projects
