Oswego Traffic Stops Result In Felony Drug Arrests

OSWEGO, NY – On Monday, August 18, at approximately 9:23 a.m. the Oswego City Police Department performed a traffic stop of a 2000 Saab on Bunner Street at Maple Street in the city of Oswego for a violation of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was found to be operating with a suspended NYS driver’s license and subsequently arrested for such, according to police.

A search incident to arrest found the operator, Derrick R. Williams, 56, of 38 Birch Lane Apartment 35 B Oswego, to allegedly be in possession of approximately 11.4 grams of crack cocaine.

It is alleged that Williams possessed the crack cocaine with intent to sell. The street value of the crack cocaine is approximately $1,100.

In addition to the original traffic violation Williams was criminally charged with the following:

Williams was arraigned on the charges in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility on no bail.

He has a return court date of September 2 at 9:30 a.m.

On Tuesday, August 19, at approximately 5:45 p.m. the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team (ACT) performed a traffic stop of a 2002 Dodge Stratus in the area of East Albany Street and East Second Street in the city of Oswego for a traffic violation.

The operator, a 16-year-old boy, was allegedly found to be in knowing and illegal possession of 10 Oxycodone tablets, a narcotic drug, with the intent to sell such.

The continued investigation revealed that the teen had obtained the oxycodone tablets at the request of Mary Clifford with intent that he sell said tablets to Todd Rounds, according to police.

As a result, the following persons were arrested and criminally charged:

The 16-year-old:

Todd C. Rounds, 41, of 990 James St. Clayton. NY:

Mary M. Clifford, 36, of 177 Syracuse Ave., Oswego NY:

The teen was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash / $1,000 secured bail bond.

He has a return court date of September 10 at 1:30 p.m.

Both Rounds and Clifford were processed and released on appearance tickets returnable to Oswego City Court on September 4 at 9:30 a.m.
