Park Fees, Sea Cadets’ Request Tabled

OSWEGO – At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council tabled a pair of resolutions until they could get some more information.

The DPW commissioner’s request to set a fee schedule for use of Breitbeck Park (non-pavilion area) for weddings and the Sea Cadets’ request to use the McCrobie Civic Center on certain dates for drills were both pulled from Monday night’s agenda.

The councilors approved use of Franklin Square (West) Park by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau for a snowman building contest.

The event is planned for February 24. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and snowman building will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Building will end at 11:45 a.m. and the judging will start at noon.

The seven companies that have submitted applications and deposited the required fee of $500 for a Major Hauler for a 2018 Solid Waste License were approved for 2018.

Councilors also approved:

Waiving of exam application fees for honorably discharged veterans.

A monthly vehicle allowance for certain employees of the Department of Public Works (the recreation maintenance supervisor and the waterfront supervisor).

A budget amendment of $60,000 to fund continuation of the Zoning Code Update.

A budget amendment of $183,400 for additional funding for the purchase of a fuel system at the Department of Public Works.

Attendance (of one recruit) at the New York State Fire Academy Recruit Firefighter Training Program to be held February 25 – May 10.
