UPDATE: TRAVEL ADVISORY Roads Closed Due To Flash Flooding

Travel Advisory for the City of Oswego

Mayor William J. Barlow Jr., the Chief Executive of the City of Oswego,  issued a travel advisory for no unnecessary travel within the city of Oswego until 6 p.m.

Travel and visibility have become very difficult with the heavy rain and standing water.

We advise that if you do not need to go out please stay home, travel should be for emergencies only.

Keeping vehicles off the roadways will also help restoration efforts and emergency vehicle travel.

“We are asking people to avoid unnecessary travel and allow our first responders time and space to tend to the isolated areas of flooding. The Oswego Fire Department, Oswego Police Department and Department of Public Works are all collaborating to strategically deal with the areas of concern. We appreciate your cooperation,” said Mayor Barlow.

TOWN OF OSWEGO – Town of Oswego Supervisor Richard Kaulfuss has declared a local state of emergency today, June 20, at 11 a.m. in the Town of Oswego due to flash flooding throughout the town and has closed all roads within the town.

Heavy rainfall in this morning’s storms have caused flash flooding.

County Route 7 and County Route 20 and all local roads have been closed due to water on the roads.

A flash flood warning for Oswego County was issued by the National Weather Service – Buffalo Forecast Office at 11:32 a.m. and continues until 3 p.m.

The Oswego Town Highway Department and Oswego Town Fire Department are responding to the event.

Town Supervisor Kaulfuss urges people in Oswego Town to use extreme caution and to call 911 in a life-threatening emergency.

IN THE CITY OF OSWEGO

Due to heavy rains, West Albany Street between Hillside Ave. and Singleton Street, Gardenier Street Hill between Lazarek Drive and Hawley Street and Mark Fitzgibbons Drive between West Fifth Street and Munn Street, are all closed due to road flooding.
