Sheriff’s Office Announces Graduation of New Police Academy Class

OSWEGO – The Oswego Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the graduation of the latest class of the Oswego County Regional Police Academy on October 17, 2025. A total of 27 recruits successfully completed the comprehensive training program and will now begin their service in law enforcement across Central New York. Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to accept eight new deputies into service, who began their field training on October 20.

The graduates completed a comprehensive curriculum that included instruction in criminal and constitutional law, patrol procedures, crisis intervention, defensive tactics, firearms training, emergency vehicle operations, de-escalation and community engagement. Their achievement represents six months of rigorous academic and physical preparation under the guidance of experienced law enforcement instructors.

Sheriff Hilton commended the graduates for their professionalism and perseverance throughout the academy.

“Each of these graduates has demonstrated the discipline, character, and commitment required to serve our community with honor,” said Sheriff Hilton. “We welcome them into the proud tradition of law enforcement and look forward to their continued service in protecting the citizens of Oswego County and Central New York.

The graduation ceremony was held at Fulton Alliance Church, with family members, instructors, and local officials in attendance. Each graduate received their certificate of completion and badge, symbolizing their readiness to uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and respect.
