State Police Arrest Pair In Cemetery Desecration Case

MEXICO – State Police arrested Kody L. Barr, 21, from Mexico, today (May 3) in connection with the recent vandalism in Mexico Village Cemetery.

He was charged with the following:

Criminal Mischief 2nd degree (D-felony)

Cemetery Desecration 1st degree (E-felony)

Petit Larceny (A-misdemeanor)

Unlawful Dealing with a Child (give alcohol to a person under 21) (A-misdemeanor)

Barr was arraigned in the town of Mexico Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility on $20,000 cash/$40,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear back in the Town of Mexico Court on May 8 at 7 p.m.

A 16-year-old boy was also charged with Cemetery Desecration 1st degree (E-felony), police said.

Due to eligibility for juvenile offender status, his name will not be released.
