MINETTO, NY – After a windstorm devastated the big screen at the historic Midway Drive In Theatre.
And with an outpouring of support from the community to rebuild, a new screen as big as the old one was erected this week and Friday (Aug. 29) night was lit with moving picture shows.
The theater was closed until further notice on July 8 after a windstorm brought down the big screen and hit Central New York with extreme alert tornado warnings.

Owner John Nagelschmidt was at first unsure whether to reopen the historic community treasure but a local Girl Scouts troop offered support to help raise money and the theater owner decided to put the wheels in motion to rebuild.
