OSWEGO TOWN – SUNY Oswego student, College Republican Chairman and Young Americans for Freedom Club President Tyler Toomey has been invited to the White House Thursday March 21 at 3 p.m.

President Trump is set to sign an executive order protecting free speech on campus.

Just more than a month ago Toomey and his organization were the target of death threats after hosting a tabling event on campus.

Creating national media headlines Toomey championed a message of civil discourse and debate among his peers on college campuses.

Stating, “Regardless of political view, threats of violence are never acceptable, we need to have civil conversations in order to further our causes.”

In response to this invitation Tyler Toomey said “I am humbled and honored to be invited to the White House. Free speech on college campuses is under attack and I am proud our President is taking a stand. I hope to continue advocating my beliefs on campus and having civil discussions with my peers.”

Tyler will travel to our nation’s capital Tuesday evening and return Friday after attending the signing in the Rose Garden on Thursday.
