University Police Make Felony Arrest

OSWEGO — University Police at SUNY Oswego arrested John J. Turano Jr., 19, on Aug. 27 for charges including felony possession of marijuana.

Turano, a sophomore at SUNY Oswego, originally from Whitestone, was arrested after a traffic stop discovered he was allegedly carrying 41 pounds of marijuana, police said.

He also was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a seventh-degree misdemeanor, as well as two vehicular equipment violations and an infraction.

Turano was arraigned before Judge Donald Nipper in Palermo Town Court and remanded to Oswego County Jail on $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
