Utica Street Bridge Closure Update

by Contributor | September 3, 2025 9:52 am

OSWEGO – Contractors encountered unforeseen circumstances once underground work began, resulting in a delay to the project timeline. The City is very hopefully anticipating that the bridge will be reopened by the end of day, Friday, September 5. With school starting on Thursday, September 4th, Mayor Corradino, DPW Commissioner Craig Rebeor, Councilor Chris Squitieri, and City Engineer Jeff Hinderliter met on site this morning with Oswego City School District Transportation Supervisor Thomas Gunn to review next steps and ensure coordination as the new school year begins. Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th, the Utica Street Bridge will be open to school buses ONLY during peak hours of 7:00–9:00 AM and 2:00–4:30 PM to ensure timely transportation for students. Both sides of the bridge will be staffed with flaggers and Oswego Police Department officers for traffic control and safety. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as this important project is completed, and we will continue to provide updates as work progresses.
