Youngsters Enjoy Visiting Replica Ships Niña and Pinta

OSWEGO, NY – Hundreds of visitors toured replicas of Columbus’ flag ship, the Niña, and its sister ship, the Pinta, over the weekend at the West First Street pier near the H. Lee White Maritime Museum for Oswego’s Festival of Ships.

Among the hundreds of visitors was Bill Foley of Oswego. He shares a few photos of his granddaughters’ visit.

The crowd also viewed the H. Lee White Maritime Museum’s extensive collection of floating exhibits and museum displays about ships and shipbuilding, local maritime history, Great Lakes heritage, and a new exhibit entitled “Lighting the Way: Oswego’s Four Lighthouses.”

The ships are travellng across Lake Ontario and Lake Erie to Ashtabula, Ohio, and other Great Lakes ports.
