Hastings Transfer Station Temporarily Closes for Repairs on May 11

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Solid Waste Department announced more changes today within its network of transfer stations.

The Hastings Transfer Station, located at 1391 US Rte. 11, will temporarily close on Monday, May 11 to begin repairs to the trash compactor in its main building, which has been down for several weeks.

This complete closure also provides an opportunity to maintain the recycling compactor, which has been serving double duty; being used for trash as well.

Until further notice, residents are advised to use another county transfer station located at:

• Bristol Hill: 3125 NYS Rte. 3, Fulton
• Hannibal: 1167 Co. Rte. 7
• Oswego: 700 E. Seneca St.
• Pulaski: 100 Co Rte. 2A

Due to the extent of these repair and maintenance projects, the Bristol Hill and Pulaski Transfer Stations are adding days and personnel to their schedules in anticipation of increased traffic flow to help keep operations moving smoothly.

The Bristol Hill Transfer Station will now be open Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Pulaski Transfer Station will be open every day except Sundays.

Weekday hours will continue from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weigh scales closing at 3:30 p.m., and Saturday hours remain 8 a.m. to noon, with weigh scales closing at 11:30 a.m.

Please note that the Hannibal and Oswego Transfer Stations will be open according to their regular schedules.

Residents are reminded that the Hannibal Transfer Station is a local “residential” deposit with no vehicle scale. Bags are weighed on a pit-side scale with a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds.

Also, the weigh scale at the Oswego Transfer Station has been reduced to 30,000 pounds maximum. This means that vehicles and/or trailer combinations in excess of that weight will have to use an alternative transfer station.
