OSWEGO COUNTY – Today some Oswego County school districts announced switches to remote learning after learning of COVID-19 positive cases within the specified school.

Update 11/20 afternoon: All six FCSD schools (grades PK-12) will transition to remote learning through November 24, 2020, out of an abundance of caution.

UPDATE 11/20: Lanigan Elementary and Fairgrieve Elementary will be remote through November 24.

Fulton City School District announced[1] today all Fulton Junior High School students will transition to remote learning through Tuesday, November 24 and plan to return to in-person learning Tuesday, December 1. The school will still have its typical remote learning day Monday, November 30. A non-instructional district employee tested positive for COVID-19. The individual is symptomatic and was last at work on Tuesday, November 17.

Although no students are considered close contacts at this time, anyone considered a close
contact with the positive individual will be contacted by a FCSD administrator and the
Oswego County Department of Health.

The district was also informed that a non-instructional staff member at G.Ray Bodley High School tested positive as a result of exposure outside of school. The individual was last at work on November 13. Contact tracing is complete and requires no further action.

Mexico Elementary[2] School students will be learning remotely Friday, November 20 and returning to school in-person Monday, November 23. The health department told the district this evening a student in attendance on Monday, November 16 had tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing is underway.

Palermo Elementary, New Haven Elementary and Mexico Middle School will remain open and operate on their normal schedules. Mexico High School will continue its fully remote model until after Thanksgiving recess with a planned return to the district’s hybrid schedule on Nov. 30.

Today, the Central Square School District announced[3] that A.A. Cole Elementary will be switching to online only learning until after Thanksgiving break after Principal Michael Smolnik tested positive for COVID-19. All staff members will also be working from home during this time. In-person instruction is scheduled to resume Monday, November 30.

The Pulaski Academy and Central School District announced today a Pulaski Middle-High School staff member tested positive for COVID-19, and due to the number of staff members required to quarantine, Pulaski Middle-High School, Academic Center and Make Sense Shop will shift to fully remote until after Thanksgiving break. In-person instruction for Middle-High school students is planned to return Monday, November 30.

No students or staff at Lura Sharp Elementary School have been directly impacted by these quarantine orders so the elementary school will continue to operate on a normal schedule and elementary students will continue with in-person instruction.

More information can be found here[4].

Announced previously this week, Oswego City School District said it will be learning remotely from November 18 through November 29, but could extend past this date depending on the rate of infection with school staff and students. More details can be found here[5].

Announced Tuesday, Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District made the decision to pivot to 100% remote instruction beginning yesterday and plans to return to the Hybrid Instruction model on Monday, November 30.
