Norma E. Wilson Pittsley, 85, formerly of Phoenix, died Saturday at Oswego Hospital.
She was born and educated in Utica. Norma worked in nursing from 1946 to 1951 at Lee Memorial Hospital as a medical–surgical and obstetrics nurse; 1951 to 1956 for Francis T. Cincotta, D.D.S.; 1956 to 1981 for Leigh A. Simpson Jr., D.D.S.; 1982 to 1990 for Fulton Dental Health Assoc. as personnel director and post-surgical nurse and 1990 until her retirement as part time post-surgical nurse for Dr. Joel Efron and office manager for Jay Prakash, D.D.S. in Liverpool.
Norma was a parishioner at All Saints Episcopal Church in Fulton and member of Elizabeth Chapter 105 O.E.S. and Lake Bonaparte Conservation Club where she served as president, secretary and treasurer and received the John Spencer Memorial Award in 1974 for outstanding service to Lake Bonaparte. She served on the board of the N.Y.S. Federation of Small Lakes. Norma was a supervisor for Athena Triangle for several years; served as president of the Pennellville P.T.A.; worked for many years with the Dozen Plus Twelve singing group under the direction of Sox Tiffault at J.C.B. High School in Phoenix; served on the Palermo Town Planning Board and Olden Barneveld Cemetery Assoc. and was a member of the Lee Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed doll collecting, knitting, reading, cooking and crafts.
She was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Bertha Mobley Wilson; brother, Harry Wilson and husband, Theodore Pittsley Jr.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynda “Lyn” Pittsley Presco of Lake City, FL and Kathleen “Kip” Pittsley Palmer of Simsbury, CT; two foster daughters, Nancy DeNucci of Syracuse and Bonnie Davis of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Kassandra “Kip” Holloway, Scott Palmer, Brett Palmer and Ashley Palmer; five step-grandchildren; 13 step-great grandchildren; five step-great-great grandchildren; a nephew; a niece; grandnephews; grandnieces and several cousins.
Services will be held 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home with burial at Olden Barneveld Cemetery in Barneveld, NY. Calling hours are 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, P.O. Box
