OSWEGO, NY – Oswego County District Attorney Gregory Oakes is proud to announce that his re-election campaign has been endorsed by the Central and Northern New York Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents 25 different locals.
In accepting the endorsement, DA Oakes stated that he was honored to receive the support of so many unions.
“As the son of a boilermaker, I’m humbled by the council’s support. Growing up in a union home, I was taught how important it is to treat people fairly and expect everyone to play by the same rules. In many ways, that’s my guiding principle as a prosecutor,” he said.
As the Oswego County representative to the council, Patrick Carroll said, “With Greg’s leadership, success, and dedication to protecting the community, the public’s safety is in good hands.”
Carroll is the business manager for the Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 73, out of Oswego.
Bob Mantello, president of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Local Union #2, commended Oakes’ past efforts on behalf of unions and praised the fact that he “fairly supported important labor-related issues and has helped make the difference for many of our members and their families.”
In his first term, District Attorney Oakes has worked with unions to investigate companies that obtain public works contracts, making sure that the companies complied with prevailing wage laws.
