Erwin ‘Buss’ Allen, 90, 09/06/2008

FULTON, NY – Erwin “Buss” Allen, 90; of Fulton died due to an automobile accident Saturday Sept. 6, 2008, in Fulton.

He was born in Volney, NY, and he has remained a resident of Fulton for all of his life.

He retired in 1980 after working for 50 years with the Iron Workers Local #60, Syracuse.

He was a United States veteran having served during World War II from 1943 to 1946 in the European Theater with the 624th Supply Company.

Mr. Allen was honored as the 2008 Veteran of the Year and served as grand marshal for Fulton’s 27th annual Memorial Day Salute parade.

He was a 45-year member of the Fulton VFW Post #569, where he additionally volunteered for 30 years with the color guard.

Mr. Allen was predeceased by his first wife, Doris Allen, in 1955; and his second wife, Katherine Allen, in 2005.

He is survived by his children: Mark (Melanie) Allen of Pennsylvania and Amy Felts of Oswego; his sister, Florence Stevens of Volney; three grandchildren, Ryan and Corey Allen and Gwen LoCastro; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 9:00 a.m. Thursday in the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, with Rev. David Nethercott officiating.

Burial will be held in Peck’s Cemetery, Scriba, NY.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Sugar Funeral Home.
