Frank Jonientz, 94

Frank Jonientz, a hands-on entrepreneur and longtime Fulton resident, died Sunday at age 94 at A.L. Lee Memorial Hospital.

The North Dakota native, who came to Fulton in the 1930s, had worked at American Woolen Mill and Nestle before operating Jonientz Texaco for two decades.  He then became a manager at the Sealright Co., and later was the service manager at Palmer’s Granite Garage both in Fulton.  He had also established a business that installed and maintained vehicle wash equipment.  Mr. Jonientz was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime communicant of The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Fulton.

He was married 55 years to the former Ann Kostyszyn, who died in 1993.  He was also predeceased by his sisters, Rose Reschke, Julia Olsen and by a son, Paul.

Mr. Jonientz is survived by: a brother, Joseph of Liverpool; eight children, Dorothy Tetro of Fulton, Kathleen Malone of Liverpool, Susan Jonientz Stamm of Birmingham, MI, Marilyn Boucher of Oswego, Teresa Abraham of Fulton, Claudia Cook of Fulton, Frank Jonientz of New Haven, CT and Michele Jonientz of Jamesville; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

A prayer service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of the Immaculate Conception, 309 Buffalo St., Fulton.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.  Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
