OSWEGO – José “Chepe” Méndez Gaspar, August 30, 1943 – August 11, 2025, With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, José Méndez Gaspar, who departed this life on August 11, 2025, at the age of 81.
José, affectionately known as Papá Chepe, was born in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, and dedicated his life to the honorable trade of masonry. In his free time, he enjoyed walking outdoors and reading the Bible, finding peace in nature and in moments shared with his family.
He now rests in peace alongside his beloved wife, Zoila de Méndez, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children: Octavio, Walter, Mauricio, and Irma Méndez; and by his grandchildren: Ana, Darly, Daniela, Abby, Keila, Jasmin, Diana, Stefani, Catherine, José, Samantha, and Adriana.
We will all remember him with love and gratitude for the legacy of hard work, faith, and tenderness he left behind.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at La Vid Verdadera, located at 64 Gillespie Road in Fulton, New York. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a church service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. José will be laid to rest at Mount Adnah Cemetery. José “Chepe” Méndez Gaspar, 30 de agosto de 1943 – 11 de agosto de 2025, Con gran tristeza anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestro querido abuelo y padre, José Méndez Gaspar, quien partió el 11 de agosto de 2025, a la edad de 81 años.
José, conocido con cariño como Papá Chepe, nació en Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, y dedicó su vida al noble oficio de la albañilería. En su tiempo libre, disfrutaba de caminar al aire libre y leer la Biblia, encontrando paz en la naturaleza y en los momentos compartidos con su familia.
Ahora descansa en paz junto a su amada esposa, Zoila de Méndez, quien lo precedió en el camino.
Le sobreviven sus hijos: Octavio, Walter, Mauricio e Irma Méndez; así como sus nietos: Ana, Darly, Daniela, Abby, Keila, Jasmin, Diana, Stefani, Catherine, José, Samantha y Adriana.
Todos lo recordaremos con amor y gratitud por el legado de trabajo, fe y ternura que nos dejó.
El servicio fúnebre para honrar y celebrar su vida se llevará a cabo el sábado 16 de agosto de 2025 en La Vid Verdadera, ubicada en 64 Gillespie Rd, Fulton, NY.
Las horas de visita serán de 11:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m., seguidas por un servicio religioso de 1:00 p.m. a 2:00 p.m.
José será sepultado en el cementerio Mount Adnah.
