FULTON – June 29, 2025, It is with heartfelt sorrow & sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved “Joey” who passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 befallen to a tragic accident.

The blessing of Joseph Anthony Barbagallo came into our lives on May 6, 1999 in Oswego, New York. Joey was raised in Fulton, New York where he graduated from G. Ray Bodley High School in 2017 and went on to acquire his Bachelor’s degree from Oswego State University in 2022. From the age of 16 Joey, although mostly quiet and stoic in his demeanor, was a very willing and dedicated worker, learning quickly and producing always beyond expectations. He was an incredible multi-tasker at a very early age. He was able to manage his schooling, working at a grocery store part time, working at his uncle’s construction company part time and full time in the summers while at the same time juggling his family and personal relationships. In 2020, whilst still finishing up his college degree and still maintaining his part time position at a local grocery store, he committed full time at MJP Contractors, Inc. and quickly parlayed his previous experience into a leadership role. By early 2025, not yet 26 years of age, Joey had his own crew of carpenters and, more impressively, was in position for ownership of the very company he had been working with since 15 ½ years of age. With his gaining construction knowledge and willful, seemingly tirelessly ambition he was able to joint-venture in speculative real estate acquisition and rehabilitation. In his “spare” time from being a contractor lead man, Joey nearly single-handedly rehabilitated a property in Oswego on his own in less than three months. He ultimately sold the property and with the handsome sweat-equity proceeds he was able to pay off all of his college debt and have enough extra to invest in mutual funds, all while seeking the next property. To say that he was on a fast track to entrepreneurship and business ownership would be selling him short, as he was already there at 26 years old.

More important than all of Joey’s tangible accomplishments, it was his intangible achievements that he will most be remembered for. Simply put, he was a very kind, giving and generous person with everyone…except himself. One would be hard pressed to find something negative in his character when it came to helping someone, looking out for someone and protecting those he loved, especially his younger brother Nickolas.

Joey’s impact on others in his short life is admirable and unforgettable. He is loved and missed by countless family, friends and associates who now mourn him, yet the tribute to his life is that he will never be forgotten.

Joey is survived by his loving parents, Mark and Heidi (Porter) Barbagallo; his cherished brother, Nick; his maternal grandmother, Jean Porter; his paternal grandparents, Ellen and Frank Barbagallo, Sr.; multitudes of family, friends, work mates and associates, all too many to list. Joey was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Raymond Porter.

Calling hours are 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.
