FULTON, NY – Rene Ellis Hewitt, 83, of Fulton, passed away Thursday morning February 28, 2019, at Seneca Hill Manor with her family by her side.
She was born in Fulton to Clayton and Edith Ellis and was a graduate of Fulton High School in 1953.
Rene’s work experience included working for Dr. Cincotta as a dental assistant, home health aide and was employed several years with the Nestle Company.
Her primary focus in life was being a loving mother to her daughters and a caring wife to her husband, Don.
Rene enjoyed entertaining her family and friends on her front porch, where they would chat for hours.
Gardening was one of her favorite pastimes, along with cooking, quilting and patchwork design.
Rene was a member of the Fulton Women’s Club and chaired her class reunions for many years.
Rene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Donald; her three daughters, Vickee (Terry) Davis of London, Ontario, Canada, Sheree (Curtis) Griswold of Fulton and Bethanne Hewitt of Georgia; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Kellee Hewitt; her brother, Norman Ellis; and by two sisters, Lillian McCloskey and Genevieve Novak.
Rene’s family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, at her daughter and son-in-law, Sheree and Curtis Griswold’s home, 832 Utica St. in Fulton.
A celebration of Rene’s life will be at noon Saturday, July 13, at her home, 841 Utica St. in Fulton.
