Anne Gurney, 97

OSWEGO, NY – Anne Gurney, 97, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Thursday October 22, 2015, at St. Luke Health Services.

She was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and had attended schools in Ireland.

Anne came to America on the Queen Elizabeth.

She was a chamber maid in Ireland for 15 years and was a homemaker in America.

Anne was a long-time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking.

Surviving are three sons, Charles (Patricia) Gurney, Robert (Charlene) Gurney and Richard (Cindy) Gurney all of Oswego; three daughters, Elizabeth (Philip) Schaefer of Canandiagua, Patricia (Jim) Shebelske of Oswego and Ida (Pat) Gerald of Billings, Montana; a sister, Lyla Coulter of Ireland; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a niece.

She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth, in 1999.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Trinity United Methodist Church.

Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m.
