Frederick J. ‘Ted’ Palmitesso

OSWEGO, NY – Frederick J. “Ted” Palmitesso, 75, a resident of 147 W. Seneca St., passed away on Friday March 4, 2011, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Daniel and Catherine (Leppert) Palmitesso and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

He was employed with the Container Corporation of America for 44 years.

Mr. Palmitesso was a member of the National Guard in the mid 1950s.

After high school, he played professional baseball with the Detroit Tigers’ farm club.

Ted was an avid sports fan with a deep love of his New York teams. He loved to bowl and golf as well as go camping and bullhead fishing.

His favorite channel was ESPN where he watched his favorite women’s college basketball.

Surviving are two sons, Ted (Terri) Palmitesso of Fulton and Michael (Sherry) Palmitesso of Oswego; two daughters, Karen (Dennis) Smith of Oswego and Brenda (Bob Rauch) Kostoroski of Orwell; a sister, Catherine (Richard) Van Patten of Minetto; two brothers, Carl (Eleanor) Palmitesso and Donald (Sally) Palmitesso both of Oswego; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Beverly (Wart) Palmitesso; a daughter, Teresa Hannock; and a son-in-law, William Kostoroski.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 7 p.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Spring burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
