George T. ‘Bunzy’ LeRoy, 76

OSWEGO, NY – George T. “Bunzy” LeRoy, 76, a resident of 258 W. Fifth St., passed away on Saturday June 5, 2010, at the Pontiac Care and Rehab Center.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late George and Jesse (Day) LeRoy and had attended Oswego schools.

He was employed with Alcan for more than 20 years.

Mr. LeRoy was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict.

Bunzy was a member of Elks Lodge #271 and American Legion Post #268.

He enjoyed reading, camping and spending time with his three grandchildren, Michael LeRoy II, Sydnie LeRoy and Madison LeRoy.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former M. Diane Sanford; two sons, Tim (Kim) LeRoy of Oswego and G. Michael LeRoy of Washington DC; four sisters, Mary Ann Ross, Jesse Carney, Shirley Winterhald and Norma Fairly all of Oswego; nieces and nephews; and his dog, Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 5575 Thompson Road, Syracuse NY 13214-1693 or the American Diabetes Association, 6390 Fly Road, Second Floor, East Syracuse NY 13057.
