OSWEGO, NY – Laurie M. Knapp, 63, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Sunday November 29, 2015, at the Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Born in Fulton, she was a daughter of the late William McBride and Marjorie Jane (Meyer) Knapp.
She was a graduate of Minetto Union School and Oswego High School.
She attended SUNY Fredonia and received her Master’s degree from SUNY Oswego.
She retired from Niagara Mohawk and later was a teacher’s aide at Leighton Elementary School.
Laurie was a very active member of the community. She was a member of Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corps, Syracuse Scottish Pipe Band, Oswego Players Community Theatre, Blackfriars, New Horizons,Trinity United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, Dempster Grove, Mount Pleasant Grange, and the Post Card Club of Oswego County.
She is survived by her daughters, Marsaili Jane Qiumei Knapp, and Willow-Su McBride Knapp;a sister, Bethany Sue Knapp Cardinal; nephew, Peter William Cardinal; niece, Kathleen Mary May Cardinal; brother-in-law, Peter Joseph Cardinal; aunts and cousins.
She was predeceased by her infant brother, Bruce William Knapp; nephew, Matthew Joseph Cardinal; her grandparents; aunts and uncles.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday December 12 at 2:30 p.m. from the Trinity United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from noon – 2 p.m. prior to the service at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
The family request that service attendees bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the food pantry.
Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
