S. Michael O’Mara, 43

OSWEGO, NY – S. Michael O’Mara, 43, a resident of Oswego, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday February 6, 2014, at his home.

Born in Keene, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Thomas A. and Marie E. (Magnet) O’Mara.

He attended Bishop Cunningham High School and was a graduate of Oswego High School, class of 1989.

He had also attended the State University of Oswego.

He was a chef at the Ocean Reef Club, Homestead and before coming back to New York, at Bernie’s in Wilmington, Delaware.

He was a member of the ZBT fraternity.

He loved playing video games and enjoyed watching movies especially the Lion King.

Surviving are his sister, Larissa (John) Markel of Newark, Delaware; his aunt who was also his godmother, Mary Alice O’Mara of Oswego; an uncle, Timothy (Kathleen) O’Mara of Buffalo and their children, Alisha (Sean) Byrne and Dana O’Mara; a niece who he was also the godfather of, Noelle Markel; a nephew, Brogan Markel; and several cousins.

Michael will be remembered for his storytelling, great heart, infectious laugh and his quick sense of humor.

A committal service will be held at St.Paul’s Cemetery on Saturday May 3 at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are in care of the Dowdle Funeral Home.
