FULTON, NY – Catherine “Kay” Galletta, 87, of Fulton, passed away peacefully on Sunday August 25, 2013.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Catherine was born in Baldwinsville, NY, to the late James and Anna (Fichera) Valelunga.
She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Joseph A. Galletta Sr., who died September 24, 2011.
Catherine is survived by her children, Ann (John) Schaefer, Kathleen (Terry) Kinney, Nancy (James) Falanga and Joseph Jr. (Shona) Galletta; two sisters, Laura (Fred) Browning and Mary Ann Reiss-Brunwin; a brother, Ernest (Doris) Valelunga; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Catherine enjoyed a 38-year career as a supervisor with the railroad freight systems including: New York Central, Penn Central and Conrail.
She also worked with her husband, Joseph, to establish a business of 50 years, Westside Hardware.
Kay was a kind-hearted, generous spirit and a great source of comfort and advice to all who knew her.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corner of South Third and Buffalo streets, Fulton.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
