Marion Stauring

VOLNEY – Marion Stauring, age 97 of Volney, NY passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. She was born in Postolivka, Poland, now part of western Ukraine.

At the age of four years old, she traveled with her family to Elk Point, Alberta, Canada. She met her beloved husband of 63 years, George R. Stauring at a park in Edmonton, Alberta eating popcorn when he was on leave from the Airforce base in Alaska during WWII.

She was predeceased by her husband, George; parents, Stephan and Anna Miluch; and her brother, John Miluch.

Marion is survived by her loving daughters, Gail (Joseph) Persechino, Peggy (Scott) Prior, Nancy (Rodney) Altman and Georgi Jean Stauring; grandchildren, Anne (Bill) Sailer, Joseph (Anne) Persechino, Maria Persechino, Matthew (Sara) Persechino, Nicoline (Neil Cayer) Persechino, Bobby (Sara) Hayes, Alex (Abby) Hayes, Christi (Justin) Kelly, Kimberly Altman, Robin (Scott) Hunneyman, Trina (Casey) Trask, Justin (Leslee) Prior, and Ashley (Collin) France; 29 great-grandchildren; many nieces, and nephews; and caregivers Deborah Thoma and Suzanne Crandall.

Marion enjoyed the outdoors; she loved traveling with her husband George and Georgi Jean, and especially camping and fishing on Loughborough Lake in Ontario, Canada. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, sewing, cake decorating, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who loved and knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a funeral service celebrating Marion’s life to follow at 1 p.m at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.

Denise McKee (long-time family friend) will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Mt. Adnah Cemetery, Fulton, NY.
