Melvin “Mel” MacEwen, 73, of Fulton died Saturday.
He was a life resident of Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. Mel retired from Interface Solutions in 2000. He loved and was very proud of his children and could never get enough of having his grandchildren around him. Mel had many friends and loved to make people laugh with his quick wit. He loved going to Florida in the winter, was an avid S.U. fan and champion horseshoe player.
Mel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dianne Fredette MacEwen; three children, Julia Lalik, Phil (Karen) MacEwen all of Fulton and Larry (Peggy) MacEwen of Montana; sister, Jean Stacey; brothers, Chet (Barb) MacEwen, Leonard (Phyllis) MacEwen, Loren MacEwen all of Fulton and George (Debbie) MacEwen of Missouri; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton. Funeral services are private. Contributions in memory of Mel may be made to: Palliatative Care Unit c/o St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, 973 James St., Syracuse, NY 13203-9907.
