Preston Rahn Mattix, 64

Preston Rahn Mattix, 64, of Fulton, passed away Wednesday.

He was born in Waukegan, Il., son to the late Robert Emmett and Leona Marie Rahn Mattix. Preston earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Indiana University.

He was a school music educator with the Fulton School District for over 30 years. Preston was a Baritone and groups he sang with included P.D.Q. Bach Opera in New York City, Lyric Opera of Chicago, “Spirit of Song” in Syracuse and several Syracuse churches.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca L. Spencer Mattix; three children, Anna L. Mattix, Peter E. (Sarah) Mattix and Florence L. (James) Stephens; two granddaughters, Nora A. Mattix and Leona G. Stephens.

There are no calling hours. Memorial services are 2 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2011 at Minetto United Methodist Church, 2433 County Route 8, Oswego. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton has care of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Mattix may be made to the Buffalo Philharmonic, 499 Franklin St., Buffalo, NY 14201.
