FULTON, NY – Samuel A. “Sam” Vescio, 91, of Fulton, passed away Thursday October 5, 2017, after a long illness.

Born in Fulton to the late Angelo and Rosina Crai Vescio, Sam was a lifelong resident of Fulton.

He served as First Sargent in the Army during the Korean War, returning home to work for Sealright, serving as Second Ward alderman for the city of Fulton, then retiring as superintendent of the city of Fulton Water Works.

In his spare time, Sam enjoyed playing golf, softball and cooking, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.

Samuel was a great man of faith.

He was predeceased by his wife, Paula, April 25, 1986; brothers, Carmen, Frank, Anthony, Peter, Ace and Phillip; sisters, Rose and Angelina; and a great-grandson, Ethan Wood.

He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children, Robert (De) Vescio, Rosemary (Michael) Pollard, Cynthia (Joseph) Wood and Samuel (Cathleen) Vescio; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Joseph Vescio, Eleanor McGraw and June Johnston.

Calling hours will be held Monday, October 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, at Holy Trinity Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets, Fulton.

Burial with military honors will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.
