Walter ‘Walt’ J. Hubbard, 91

HANNIBAL, NY – Walter “Walt” J. Hubbard, 91 of Hannibal, died Saturday March 17, 2012, at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton.

Born in Fulton, he was a life resident of Hannibal.

In 1983, Walt retired from General Electric in Liverpool after 32 years as a maintenance mechanic.

He was a member of the Hannibal Community Church where he served as trustee and custodian for many years.

Walt had delivered Meals-on-Wheels in the Hannibal area.

In October of 1964, Walt joined Hannibal Volunteer Fire Company and in March of 2008 became an honorary member.

Walt enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Geoff and Kayleigh and loved to fish and farm.

He was predeceased by his wife, Minabelle S. Hubbard, who died December 15, 1986; and sister, Mary Scott in 2008.

Surviving: son, Gary (Cathy) Hubbard of Hannibal; grandchildren, Geoff Hubbard of Springfield, Va., and Kayleigh Hubbard of Hannibal; a brother, William Hubbard of North Syracuse; sisters, Myrtle O’Grady of Hannibal and Julia Baker of Texas.

Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at God’s Vision Christian Church (formerly Hannibal Community Church), corner of West and Church streets, Hannibal.

Burial will be at Fairdale Rural Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga St., Hannibal.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Walt may be made to Hannibal Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 252, Hannibal, NY 13074 or Meadowbrook Manor, 31 Oswego St., Hannibal, NY 13074.
